I can’t even remember how I discovered SA house music because House is not a style that I would listen unless I’m forced to in a bar or club. Still I’m open to all type of music so I guess I was introduced to that dopeness through Mafikizolo ( which is not really a House Music band). Still from the day I listened to Mafikizolo’s « Happiness » I decided to regularly listen to what was good on the SA music scene.
I randomly discovered Heavy-K ( A South African Dj that we previously talked about on the blog). From there I loved and started to follow BUCIE ! What stroke me was the combination : great pure voice + lyrics + the notorious SA house beat. You can’t just listen to SA House and remain still! You just gotta shake your head first, then your shoulders, then your hips and feet and I guess you would be dancing to Bucie’s songs anywhere in the world.
She sings in English but also in Xhosa and other SA languages which are totally beautiful to my ears. And really you don’t get all the words, you simply get the feelings, the struggles and the music. The girl has been doing great music for 10 years and is well know in SA! Where was I? 😮
Anyway, now that I found her, I’m regularly checking on her updates and believe me you gotta add that girl to any of your playlists!
