Ruth Berhe (born July 2, 1995), better known as Ruth B, is a Canadian singer and songwriter of Ethiopian descent, from Edmonton, Alberta. She started with singig on Vine in early 2013.
In January 2015, she released her debut EP, The Intro that is a pure diamond. She got a beautiful voice and we truly love her lyrics.
If you close your eyes while listening to her songs you will swear to hear Adele or Lianne La havas but also realize that there is more to it… That more is Ruth B. Not sure if she sings, speaks or slams and that’s the beauty of it. The words are flowing and leave you wanting for more.
When we listened to the beautifully written « Lost Boy » we knew that she must have had one foot in Africa. If you heard about the Lost Boys of Sudan before, you might wonder about her being from the area. After a few clicks online it was confirmed, she does have Ethiopian backgrounds.
Our advice : Put one of Ruth B. songs on repeat and try to picture her fingers running on the piano. Can you almost see her writing one of her deep songs alone on a veranda, in summer time, bathing in the sun, by the sea? Well, I totally felt that sea breeze on my face while listening to the EP. And I only felt that with Ruth B.
Get ready to be taken away…
